Title IV

The Purpose

The purpose of Title IV Part A: Student Support and Academic Enrichment is to support programs that prevent violence and the illegal use of alcohol, tobacco, and drugs in and around schools. Schools and districts are to involve parents and coordinate with community efforts in developing these programs. The goal is to foster a safe and healthy learning environment that promotes student academic achievement.

Funds may be used to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive programs and activities that provide:

  • Counseling students in postsecondary opportunities, financial literacy, financial aid awareness;
  • Programs and activities that use music and the arts as tools to support student success through the promotion of constructive student engagement, problem solving, and conflict resolution;
  • Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, including computer science;
  • Improving underrepresented members in high quality courses and STEM activities;
  • Reimbursing low-income students for accelerated learning examination fees;
  • Strengthening programs such as American history, civics, economics, government education, foreign language instruction, environmental education, volunteerism, and community engagement; or
  • Professional development activities to address the above activities.
