Biography

In October 2020, Lindy Hatch was selected as the new principal of the Summit Academy Draper Campus. However, she has been part of the Summit Academy Draper learning community since September 2010. She has served this community in many capacities. She loved her five years teaching second grade before moving to teach sixth grade and taking on some administration duties. For two years, Lindy was a systems coach where she worked with the Utah State Board of Education and various Summit campuses to improve the effectiveness of the multi-tiered systems of support within Summit Academy. Before becoming principal, Lindy was an instructional coach for all fourth thru sixth grade teachers within Summit Academy Schools and served as the district literacy coordinator, a job she had a great passion for.. 

Lindy’s love of literacy and helping children find that same love is one of her great strengths. She knows when the fire of reading is lit within a child, the world is opened up to them. In the fall of 2019, Lindy was selected as a course designer for Standards Implementation Institute by the Utah State Board of Education where she created courses for teachers on phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, and using complex text. 

One of Lindy’s top priorities as principal of the Draper Campus is to build a strong, positive learning community where both teachers and students can find success and growth. She believes that by including students, teachers, staff, and parents in the learning process with transparent communication, support, and opportunities for feedback, the Draper Campus learning community will soar to new heights. 

Lindy has a professional teaching license with an endorsement in reading. She has a BS degree from Brigham Young University in Family Science with a minor in Psychology. She also completed an internship working for the Utah Valley Crisis Line. She recently graduated in the spring of 2023 from SUU with her MEdl degree. 

Lindy was raised in Albuquerque, NM and spent years helping at hot air balloon festivals. She loves to hike and explore new places as she travels with her husband and four children. Before beginning her teaching career, Lindy was a professional scrapbooker and still enjoys spending time being creative through painting or crafting.
